Network-Agnostic Adaptive PQ Adjustment Control for Grid Voltage Regulation in PV Systems

The service of grid voltage regulation is required nowadays from inverter-based resources (IBRs) particularly at the lower level. In transmission network, this easily managed by leveraging solely reactive power (Q) capability IBR, but in distribution networks that are mix $L$ and notation="LaTeX">$r$ magnitude coupled with both active (P) injection. There methods literature designed for these cases utilize P Q regulation, they usually require network load data, which may not be readily available. Furthermore, often disregard an apparent nonmonotonic relation between inverter terminal P/Q ratio risking instability. To fill gap, article introduces a network-agnostic P–Q adjustment technique photovoltaic (PV) systems or other IBRs. proposed tracks step-like manner reference set point if it feasible, maximum otherwise. This allows identification critical without any prior information cost limited ripple due to variable step-size strategy implemented. superior performance scheme validated through simulations MATLAB-Simulink reduced UKGDS 95-bus system lab experiments on scaled down laboratory grade prototype.
